When experience matters most...
As your greater Boise area jewelry appraisal professional, I am qualified to help with various appraisal and valuation situations to provide documentation and help with jewelry assessments. I feel honored to be asked into your project and will treat your
situation professionally and with great care.
In my first career in Marketing and Public Relations for Ernst & Young and high-tech companies, I traveled extensively throughout the southwest and other countries helping with communication projects. My love of gems and minerals began on a trip to Bogota, Colombia, where I was able to meet with emerald specialists for the first time. Little did I know that between those green magical gems and studying geology extensively in high school and college, that my second career was going to involve the love of rocks, minerals, and gemstones. And making people’s drams come true.
I became a GIA Graduate Gemologist in 1997, graduating in the top of my class at the world headquarters in Carlsbad, California. I worked in the jewelry industry with Eiseman Jewels in Dallas, Texas for several years appraising, designing, and helping customers create their dream designs.
While raising my family in California, I was a jewelry blogger and reviewer and author. I also volunteered with GIA in local San Diego schools teaching elementary and middle school classes in a “Gemologist for a Day” program. I loved watching the teachers and kids come to life seeing small miracles in the microscope and supplementing the geology program while growing awareness of gemology as a field of study.
When we moved to Idaho, a local jeweler asked me to help address the growing need for independent and qualified appraisers. Excited to use my background to help the local community, I opened Treasured Gems Appraisals and Sales, LLC, in. I also was
accepted as a candidate member in the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) and have worked as a jewelry appraiser and private jewelry sourcing gemstones. I offer concierge assistance finding resources for design and manufacturing
of custom jewelry to private clientele and giving second opinions on purchases.
My goal is to be an invaluable resource to this vibrant, growing community in Idaho and
honor each invitation to share about gemology, jewelry, and valuations.

“We got to know Elizabeth Van Tassel more than 20 years ago when she helped my husband and me select our engagement and wedding rings at Eiseman Jewels in Dallas. We felt an instant rapport with her and appreciated her guidance and patience in the process. She helped us design a special ring based on our specifications and budget. Elizabeth is caring, a good listener, and naturally connects her expertise with customers’ desires. We felt a natural friendship develop during our time working with her; she helped recommend places in Carmel for our honeymoon, and our friendship developed into us becoming godparents of their oldest son. Elizabeth has a passion for gemstones, jewelry, and connecting with people’s stories.
I recommend her wholeheartedly on both a personal and professional level.”
